Free Affiliate Marketing Tools to Make Your Life Easier

Affiliate marketing is meant to help others. It could be that they want to know more about a certain topic or they have a problem they need answers to. As you build your online business, you need to ensure that you create that trust and credibility so that your website visitors will listen to what you have to say and trust your recommendations.

Since there’s quite a number of things that you have to think about, it will definitely be good to automate some of it when possible. Think about it for a sec, you have to be able to:

  • Invest in yourself and learn more about affiliate marketing
  • Build a website, find web hosting, and manage your site
  • Find keywords with low competition
  • Create content and proofread
  • Find and manage affiliate programs
  • Track your ranking in search engines and understand the profile of your audience
  • Manage and cloak your affiliate links
  • Create visuals to enhance your website’s user experience

Whew! That’s really a lot of things to think about especially if you’re just starting out. Thankfully, there are tools you can use and here are 5 FREE tools you can start with:

#1 Wealthy Affiliate

To be completely honest, I really think Wealthy Affiliate is such a good place to start. It offers so many tools and resources to get you started right, and hopefully avoid many of the mistakes done by others. You can try it out as a starter member and you don’t have to pay a single cent.

If you want to know more, read my Wealthy Affiliate Review.

Training

You don’t have to be an expert when you start as an affiliate marketer. In fact, I knew nothing when I started 4 years ago. I literally just went through the Online Entrepreneur Certification and you can go through the same thing as well. The training is step-by-step, easy to follow, and there are milestones that you can tick off along the way.

There’s also the Affiliate Bootcamp if you want to get into the making money niche. There are also video walk-throughs that you can watch.

As there are two types of memberships (starter and premium), you don’t have to go premium if you think this is not for you. However, if you are serious about building your online business, then it’s something you might want to consider.

Keyword research tool

To help you generate more traffic to your website, it helps to find the right keywords. You want keywords with low competition and is more specific. As a starter member, you can have 30 free searches. Jaaxy comes as part of Wealthy Affiliate so it’s something you don’t really have to worry about anymore.

If you want to learn more about keyword research, read this article on How to Find Keywords in a Website.

Website hosting and website development

I used to avail of domain names elsewhere, however since this has been integrated in this platform, it really makes things easy. I also appreciate the support they provide. I’ve had some technical issues on a few instances, but they were able to address it right away. Like I wanted my site to be more secure by making it https instead of http, and they helped me do that without waiting long.

You can use this SSL checker to find out if your website is secure.

When you build a website, there’s also so many designs to choose from. You can also create and proofread your content through SiteContent. Since there are available templates and royalty-free images, you don’t have to complicate your life so much anymore.

You can actually create two free websites using the SiteRubix platform in Wealthy Affiliate. If you do go for Premium membership, you can have as much as 50 websites which others use for their business.

Affiliate program platform

This was just launched and while it will continue to evolve, I think it’s on to a great start. It is so easy to look for affiliate programs that are relevant to your niche and you can even filter the results based on what you’re looking for. It also allows you to manage your affiliate programs in one place and join discussions so you can make a more informed decision on whether to join a particular affiliate program or not.

#2 Google Analytics

Google Analytics provides you with insights to better understand your customers. You can look at your dashboards and identify things like where your audience are from, how long they stay on your site, which keywords or articles brought them to your site. It will help you know what people are looking for in your website and how many.

You can use both the desktop and the mobile version. Download the app on your phone and you’re good to go.

#3 Pretty Links

This is one of those WordPress plug-ins that would be good for you to install and activate. It cloaks or disguises your affiliate links so it’s shorter, more visually appealing, and you are also able to protect your affiliate ID.

#4 Trello

I like writing things down the old-fashioned way (using notebooks). But I’ve realized that I can make things more efficient through online tools. I love Trello since it helps me manage tasks effectively. I just created a test one to show you how it works. Essentially, you can create as many boards, lists, and cards as you like. I write down ideas, resources, to-do’s, and pretty much anything I can think of so that it’s just in one place.

#5 Canva

With Canva, you can definitely make your website more visually appealing. You can design logos, infographics, banners, and pretty much anything you need. You can also customize social media graphics based on your need. It’s really easy to use. This is how I’ve created the designs you see in this website.

  1. Marios Tofarides

    Hey there Raquel,

This is a great post. Very informative. I will keep the tools in my bookmarks and I have already shared the post in my social media accounts. I haven’t used Pretty Links and Canva so far. I have heard of them a lot, it’s just that I have been using other tools.

For Pretty Links, If I have the same link in more than one posts or pages, would you suggest using one pretty link for all, or one for each page/post I have the link in?

    Thanks!

    Marios

    1. Thanks Marios. On Pretty Links, I suggest creating shortened links and then use it where you need to in your website. This way you can track how many times they’ve been clicked as well as how many conversions they produce. All the best!

  2. Hi Raquel,

I love that you are so willing to help new members start out.  I am relatively new and I absolutely believe in this program 100%.  No where else could you find the training, community support and knowledge.  Other companies want money upfront and then you ask for a refund if you don’t like the program.  At Wealthy Affiliate you just sign up for 7 days and then determine if you are interested.  Awesome.

The tools have made my life so much easier and I think I would have given up a long time ago.  I have a long way to go yet, I haven’t got a lot of computer knowledge so I stumble along.  But there is always a helping hand.

I had not heard of Trello, I am like you and have a notepad beside me and I take notes and have files for each topic that I feel I will go back to.  But I really want to explore the Trello, that sounds like a really essential tool.  Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

I do have a question, you said you changed your http to https for security reasons.  Could you explain please?  I get why you want more security, but just with the addition of an “s”, I don’t quite follow.

Thanks for this awesome information.  Look forward to hearing back from you!

    Wanda

    1. Hi Wanda. I’m glad you also found Wealthy Affiliate valuable. I highly recommend it because you get so much value from the training alone. And if you explore it further, it is jam-packed with tools and resources to help you with your online business. You don’t have to wrack your brains and think of which tools to use because most of it is already in that platform – from website hosting, domain names, creating content, website dashboards, keyword research, and even choosing affiliate programs.

On the difference between http and https, what you really get is additional security. The SSL certificate in https means that it is a secure connection and it keeps your information safe from hackers. Hope this helps.

  3. Hi Raquel, excellent help you have offered in your post up here. Seriously, I always think affiliate marketing is a business model that requires thousands of dollars to get started with and as such I’ve been saving a lot for it. Though I already got into Wealthy Affiliate, I’m still a rookie so I do not have clues about how it goes. But surely, your post has enlightened my view and simplified most things for me. And yes! I do make use of Canva before, never knew it could come in handy for affiliate marketing too. Thanks

    1. Thank you Darrick. You really don’t need a lot to start in affiliate marketing. And I think this is part of why it’s popularity is growing. You do not need a warehouse and you do not need to create products, you can just leverage other products and services that are available in the market. There really are a lot of free tools and I would encourage that you use them if it helps. Just keep on learning and taking action.

  4. An easy to read overview of what you need to start with affiliate marketing.
The article is just the right size to get enough information to get started and it doesn’t bombard you with unnecessary facts. Once you go ahead with the affiliate marketing, you can find further information in the described tools and platform.

    1. Thank you Martin. I do think it’s good to have the right foundation in any endeavour that you undertake and to never stop learning. Let’s keep things simple. There’s so much to learn that it’s better to take it a step at a time so that you don’t get overwhelmed and lose focus.

  5. Robert Trevor

Affiliate marketing is one of the best businesses that I know of where you can start without any capital.

As a member of Wealthy Affiliate, I have found the training, videos as well as advice and help of the community, as well as the founders Kyle and Carson of great value.

One of the best tools for finding keywords for building my website, and getting rated on google is Jaaxy, it is truly amazing.

We have used Canva as well to call up all sorts of pictures to illustrate our website, it has an amazing range and volume of all sorts of aids and illustrations available.

    1. Thank you Robert. Keywords are really very important as you build your website. If you target the right keywords, you can better improve your search engine optimization and generate more traffic to your website.

  6. This topic is one that I would like to recomend that every newbie should be very much interested in for its valuable and helpful lessons that it promises to offer to the beginners. Even the oldies alike will have to find some refreshing help from here.

In about eight months after I joined Wealthy Affiliate, I still have the memories of my experiences as regards to the help I got from consuming articles with such headlines as of that time and they were very useful to me.

Based on my experience, I strongly recommend that once you make up your mind to join an online business you should first consider Wealthy Affiliate as your first option and also waste no time in securing some helpful tools that will help to optimize your business as it should be.

    1. Thank you David. As you start with affiliate marketing, I do suggest learning as much as you can about it. But at the same time, put what you have learned into action. Set milestones for yourself to help you become more motivated. I also suggest that you tap on the expertise of the Wealthy Affiliate community. There are people with so much experience that you can learn from, and it also gives you an opportunity to help others. Glad you found the posts helpful. There is a lot of training and video classes that you can learn from.
